The ICM Photo Academy is a learning resource hub for 'work at your own pace' online courses, mentoring and portfolio reviews. Whether you are a complete beginner, or a pro looking for inspiration to take your work to the next level you've come to the right place. Everyone who chooses to learn with us gets access to a private Facebook group where participants can share their progress and ideas, and Kaisa and Morag will share inspirational ideas and signpost opportunities for more creative development, and getting your photography 'out there'.
These workshop are designed for self-study and include both introduction to ICM for beginners as well as advanced ICM techniques for those already familiar to ICM. The teachers are myself and Morag Paterson.

Free Introduction to ICM
In this free mini-course Kaisa and Morag explore some inspirational ideas for developing your ICM photography:
• "Tuning In" which gives you some tips on getting grounded in any location, helping you notice all the interesting things to photograph there. It's all about building connection.
• "Backyard" - whether that's your home, garden, favourite local park, you can adapt the ideas to suit your circumstances.
• "Art in the Mundane" - the magic of ICM means that even everyday subjects can be rendered beautiful, artistic and fascinating. In this video we share some examples and ideas with you.
Elementary Self-Study course
Welcome to the Elementary Online Course; we're delighted you're on the path to working with us.
In this workshop there are 6 lessons during which we go through what kind of equipment is needed to create ICM images as well as certain post processing techniques handy to know for ICM images. You will learn the importance and significance of shutter speed, focal length, basic movements and how to create successful compositions of ICM images.
Each of the 6 lessons has a video that explains the technique and the exercise. You will also receive a PDF download of each exercise. You will receive the next lesson upon completion of the previous one. At the end of the course you can submit 4 ICM photos to the instructors to receive feedback on your images.
Advanced ICM Self-Study course
Welcome to the ICM Advanced Course; we're delighted you've chosen to learn with us. This course is designed for photographers who already know the basics of ICM and have possibly completed the Elementary course. During the six lessons you can deepen your skills in ICM photography and learn new techniques.
In this workshop there are 6 lessons during which we go through new advanced movements, exposure times beyond 2 seconds, colour blending, photographing a moving subject as well as from a moving vehicle and high key photography. All the lessons are based on in-camera photography.
Each of the 6 lessons has a video that explains the technique and the exercise. You will also receive a PDF download of each exercise. You will receive the next lesson upon completion of the previous one.
The ICM Advanced Self-Study course also has a version with review, where at the end of the course you can submit 4 ICM photos to the instructors to receive feedback on your images
