The ICM Photo Academy is a learning resource hub for 'work at your own pace' online courses, mentoring and portfolio reviews. I run it together with Morag Paterson. Whether you are a complete beginner, or a pro looking for inspiration to take your work to the next level you've come to the right place. Everyone who chooses to learn with us gets access to a private Facebook group where participants can share their progress and ideas, and Kaisa and Morag will share inspirational ideas and signpost opportunities for more creative development, and getting your photography 'out there'.
Most of the Academy's courses are designed for self-study. They include introduction to ICM for beginners as well as advanced ICM techniques for those already familiar to ICM.

7 steps to ICM heaven
With this free introduction course, you will get a short introduction video and a downloadable PDF file. The PDF tells you the 7 steps to get started in ICM photography. Here are some of the things you will learn:
• How to Embrace experimentation, Exploration and play
• Try new ways of moving your camera - Or try moving your camera at all for the first time!
• Start making powerful, expressive images
• Begin to see light, colour, and movement with fresh eyes
Elementary Self-Study course
In this workshop there are 6 lessons. They teach what kind of equipment is needed to create ICM images as well as certain post processing techniques handy to know for ICM images. You will learn the importance and significance of shutter speed, focal length, basic movements and how to create successful compositions of ICM images.
Each of the 6 lessons has a video that explains the technique and the exercise. You will also receive a PDF download of each exercise. You will receive the next lesson upon completion of the previous one. At the end of the course you can submit 4 ICM photos to the instructors to receive feedback on your images.
Advanced ICM Self-Study course
This course is designed for photographers who already know the basics of ICM and have possibly completed the Elementary course. During the six lessons you can deepen your skills in ICM photography and learn new techniques.
In this workshop there are 6 lessons during which we go through new advanced movements, exposure times beyond 2 seconds, colour blending, photographing a moving subject as well as from a moving vehicle and high key photography. All the lessons are based on in-camera photography.
Each of the 6 lessons has a video that explains the technique and the exercise. You will also receive a PDF download of each exercise. You will receive the next lesson upon completion of the previous one.
